Frontier League Professional Baseball is pleased to announce the rosters for the 2022 All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday, July 20.
Frontier League Professional Baseball is pleased to announce the rosters for the 2022 All-Star Game hosted by the Washington Wild Things at Wild Things Park located in Washington, PA on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:05 pm.
In the West division, at the hot corner is Brylie Ware of the Joliet Slammers. Ware is batting .348 on the year with 5 homers and 34 RBI and 30 R. His .455 OBP is ranked fourth overall in the league. At first base is Florence Y’alls 6’9” Brennan Price who is batting .308 with 42 RBI, 10 HR, and 41 R.
In the middle infield, Washington’s Nick Ward will be playing at shortstop. Ward was at the top of the batting average leader boards for nearly 2 months at the beginning of the season. He is currently batting .374, with 40 RBI, 13 HR and 49 R as well as working the plate for 45 base-on-balls in the season. Joining Ward will be Schaumburg’s Matt Bottcher playing second base. Bottcher has a .384 batting average and owns a .465 OBP.
Dakota Phillips of Evansville has been voted the starting catcher behind the plate. He isbatting .325 this year with 25 RBI, 9 HR and a .417 OBP. Phillips is not able to play due to injury and Jackson Pritchard of Gateway will start behind the plate as a replacement.
The outfield is made up of Zach Biermann of Evansville, Isaac Benard of Gateway and Wagner Lagrange of Washington. Biermann is batting .298 this year with 14 HR and a .589 SLG. Benard is batting .333 with 11 HR, 32 RBI and a .615 SLG. Lagrange is batting .335, has played 50/50 games while collecting 37 RBI and 33 R.
In the East Division, the infield corners will be played by New Jersey Jackals’ first baseman Dalton Combs and Trois-Rivières Aigles third basemen Juan Kelly. Combs is currently sporting a 22-game hit streak as well as a .399 batting average with 48 RBI, 11 HR, and 49 R. Juan Kelly is batting .377 with 29 RBI, 7 HR and 25 R.
In the middle of the infield, New Jersey Jackal, Justin Wylie, and Tri-City ValleyCat, Pavin Parks will be starting for the East. Wylie is batting .302 on the year with 47 RBI, 13 HR and 34 R on the year. Parks is batting .291 with 28 RBI, 8 HR and 35 R. Behind the plate is Trois-Rivières Aigles’ catcher Carlos Martinez. He is batting .337 with 48 RBI, 13 HR, and 41 R.
In the outfield, Josh Rehwaldt of New Jersey, Jacob Sanford of Ottawa and Martin Figueroa of Sussex County will be tracking down baseballs. Rehwaldt is batting .321 with 40 RBI, 16 HR and 42 R on the year. Sanford has some experience in the New York Yankees organization and since joining the Frontier League he is batting .344 with 56 RBI, 14 HR, and 38 R. Figueroa is batting .343 with 44 RBI, 8 HR and 44 R.
West Division Additions – The Washington Wild Things will be sending Andrew Czech (1B), Ian Walters (3B) and Alex Alvarez (C). The Gateway Grizzlies will be sending Trevor Achenbach (2B). The Florence Y’alls will be sending Alberti Chavez (SS) and Anthony Brocato (OF). The Windy City ThunderBolts will be sending Joshuan Sandoval (C).
East Division Additions – The Tri-City ValleyCats will be sending Brad Zunica (1B) and Brantley Bell (OF). The Ottawa Titans will be sending AJ Wright (3B). The Quebec Capitales will be sending David Glaude (2B) and Jeffry Parra (C). Sussex County will be sending Errol Robinson (SS). New Jersey will be sending Jason Agresti (C).
West Division Pitchers - The Evansville Otters will be sending (RHP) Logan Sawyer and (RHP) Parker Brahms. The Gateway Grizzlies will be sending (RHP) John Murphy. The Joliet Slammers will be sending (RHP) Cole Cook and (RHP) Cameron Aufderheide. The Lake Erie Crushers will be sending (RHP) Joseph Sgambelluri. The Schaumburg Boomers will be sending (LHP) Darrell Thompson. The Washington Wild Things will be sending (RHP) Rob Whalen and (RHP) Lukas Young.
East Division Pitchers – The Empire State Greys will be sending (RHP) Johsson Arias. The New York Boulders will be sending (LHP) Danny Wirchansky. The Ottawa Titans will be sending (LHP) Kevin Escorcia, (RHP) Zac Westcott. (LHP) Evans Grills was elected but will not be attending. The Québec Capitales will be sending (RHP) Samuel Adames and (RHP) Codie Paiva. The Sussex County Miners will be sending (RHP) Dwayne Marshall and (RHP) John Baker.
During the game, the Frontier League all-stars will don the jerseys of Negro League teams from their team’s regions as part of a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Josh Gibson’s induction into the baseball Hall of Fame. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game on the Wild Things’ auction partner M@C’s platform so that fans from all over the league can bid on and try to win their piece of history with proceeds benefitting the Josh Gibson Foundation.
