Standout pitchers arrive in the Florida Collegiate Summer League ready to shine. All six of the FCSL teams feature potential breakout stars from any assortment of hubs: junior colleges, NCAA Division I and II, and more.
A breakthrough performance in Florida offers the prospect a springboard into new heights. To that end, don't be surprised if an unexpected pitcher throws his way to the front of the pack by summer's end.
Some names to consider in the meantime.
Dylan Dieguez, Seminole County Snappers (Bethune-Cookman)
Bethune-Cookman commit Dylan Dieguez completed an outstanding 2022 season with East Florida State College. He worked 61 innings with eight starts, striking out 53 and posting an ERA of 2.95.
The left-hander can throw as a starter or out of the bullpen with equal proficiency.

Keller Eberly, Sanford River Rats (College of Central Florida)
Keller Eberly, who is 6-foot-6, returns to the FCSL for his third go-round. Pitching for Winter Garden a season ago, Eberly struck out five and finished with a 6.14 ERA in 7 ? innings of relief work.
Gavin Galy, Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (Nicholls)
Gavin Galy's work out of the Nicholls pen this season included a solid outing down the stretch against LSU and a clean effort against Southland Conference heavyweight Southeastern Louisiana.
Jake Janata, Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (Valdosta State)
In his second season at Valdosta State, Jake Janata saw an increase in opportunities coming out of the Blazers bullpen. He finished the season strong, providing a foundation for FCSL play.
Heston Mosley, Leesburg Lightning (Jacksonville University)
An imposing strikeout artist, Heston Mosley (pictured above) comes to the Leesburg Lightning after a 2022 season at Jacksonville in which he mowed down almost twice as many batters (38 strikeouts) as he gave up hits (20).
Opponents hit just .172 against the 6-foot-3 Mosley last season. At St. Johns River State in 2021, he went 4-1 in 13 starts with an ERA of 2.63.
Zaylen Perry, Sanford River Rats (UAB)
Coming out of Auburndale High School, Zaylen Perry earned some impressive reviews from PerfectGame. At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Perry's size powers an impressive fastball clocked in the mid-90s.
He performed well as a reliever for UAB in his debut college season, going without allowing a run in seven of his nine appearances and limiting extra-base hits.
Cameron Sereda, Leesburg Lightning (University of Tampa)
Left-handed reliever Cameron Sereda posted a 2.96 ERA in 14 appearances during the 2022 season. He struck out 20 batters in 24 ? innings.
Before landing at Tampa, Sereda pitched at the College of Central Florida after a season at St. Johns River State, where he started for the Vikings.

Brighton Taylor, Winter Garden Squeeze (Saint Peter's)
Versatile Brighton Taylor contributed as both an infielder and pitcher for Saint Peter's in 2021. In 2022, Taylor operated on the mound to the tune of 42 ? innings with 29 strikeouts.
Cade Udell, DeLand Suns (Villanova)
Cade Udell originally signed at Duke out of Lake Mary, where he was ranked among the nation's top 250 prospects in the 2020 signing class.
The 6-foot-6 right-hander struck out at least one batter in each of his last four appearances in the 2022 season, all made in the month of May.
Udell will ride that momentum into the FCSL and a prime opportunity with DeLand, the same club on which his brother, Connor, earned All-Star honors a season ago.
