Here's what to know about the 2024 MLB Draft on July 14.

Some of the best prospects in baseball will hear their names called over the next several days during the 2024 MLB Draft at the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas during the start of All-Star Week. 

Prospects like Charlie Condon, J.J. Wetherholt and Travis Bazzana will hear their names on Day 1 in the first round, but with about 600 picks and 20 rounds, baseball minor league systems are about to be re-stocked. 

Here is what to know about the MLB Draft in 2024. 

When Is The 2024 MLB Draft?

The MLB Draft is July 14-16 in Fort Worth, Texas. Coverage on MLB TV will begin at 7 p.m. EST on July 14 and noon on July 15 and 16th.

What Channel Is The MLB Draft On?

The MLB Draft will be on MLB Network. The first round will be on both MLB Network and ESPN.

MLB Draft Order For The Prospect Promotion Incentive Picks 

If a player who was rated as a preseason Top 100 prospect by MLB Pipeline, Baseball America, and/or ESPN (at least two of the three) and was on his team's Opening Day roster goes on to win the Rookie of the Year Award, the club is awarded a Prospect Promotion Incentive pick after the first round.

MLB Draft Order For First Round Compensation Picks

If a team that loses a qualifying free agent is a revenue-sharing recipient and the free agent signs for at least $50 million, the team will be awarded a pick between the first round and Competitive Balance Round A.

  • 33. Minnesota Twins (Compensation for Sonny Gray. The Cardinals forfeited their second-round pick for signing Gray)

MLB Draft  Order For Competitive Balance Round A 

All teams that have either one of the 10 smallest markets or 10 smallest revenue pools receive an additional pick at the end of the first or second round. The groups of teams alternate between the two rounds each year.

Competitive Balance picks may be traded and are not subject to forfeiture.
