Overall, college baseball pitchers had it rough in 2024 as the game saw a down year on the mound a season after such stars like Paul Skenes and Rhett Lowder powered their teams to Omaha. 

But as the 2024 MLB Draft approaches, it should be noted that there were some terrific hurlers on the mound in college baseball and at the high school level. 

Especially at Arkansas, Wake Forest and East Carolina.

Hagen Smith had a historic season on the mound for the Razorbacks and was a Golden Spikes Award finalist. Chase Burns was one of the most dominant transfers in college baseball for the Demon Deacons and Trey Yesavage had 2.02 ERA in more than 90 innings of work.

Burns has the best chance to go in the top two with Cincinnati possibly taking the right-hander. Smith should be a top-10 pick and Yesavage won’t last too long after he’s gone.
