Long Island Ducks vs. York Revolution Atlantic Series: How To Watch

Is there anyone in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball’s North Division who can stop the York Revolution right now?

Worthy opponents lately for the Revs have been few and far between, but the Long Island Ducks — who have given York a bit of trouble this season — are next team up on the schedule to try and take a swing.

York and Long Island are currently in the midst of a three-game, midweek series against one another with the final two games of the series scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Wednesday and Thursday at WellSpan Park in York, Pennsylvania. Both games are scheduled to be streamed live and exclusively on FloBaseball.

The Revolution (36-18 overall) have had a fantastic month of June and enter Wednesday night’s matchup with the Ducks on a seven-game winning streak. Ahead by nine games in the first-half North Division standings, York clinched the North’s first-half division title in Tuesday’s series opener against the Ducks with an 11-9 victory in 10 innings, securing it a playoff berth in the process.

Meanwhile, Long Island (25-29) will need to find some second-half magic in order to make it to the playoffs, but despite being well back — by 11 games after Tuesday’s games — of the Revolution in the North’s first-half standings, the Ducks have played rather well against York this season. Entering this week’s series, Long Island held a split 3-3 record against the Revs in 2024, even taking the first series of the season between them back from May 14-16.

How to Watch Atlantic League Baseball in 2024

Watch Atlantic League baseball on FloBaseball and the FloSports app.

FloBaseball will be streaming the Atlantic League and more independent league baseball all season long.

Players to Watch

Tyler Dearden, OF, Long Island Ducks

Dearden reached as high as Triple-A across six seasons within the Boston Red Sox organization before deciding to give the independent route a try with Long Island this year, and the New Jersey native has hit the ground running right away and become one of the ALPB’s most reliable hitters.

Third in the ALPB (as of this writing) with a .363 batting average, he and fellow hot-hitting Duck Frank Schwindel (.373) are the two most efficient-hitting pair of teammates in the league, all while Dearden has flashed a bit of power with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs on the year, as well. He is also one of only three players in the league currently with at least 200 plate appearances and an on-base plus slugging percentage of over 1.000, holding a 1.064 mark in that category.

Dearden hit one of his homers on the year in the series opener against York on Tuesday, being a productive option in the batter’s box despite Long Island’s defeat in extra innings, and he should remain dangerous as the Ducks seek to get one of the ALPB’s best teams and top title contenders off-kilter this week.

David Washington, INF, York Revolution

Yes, Washington may have been shouted out once previously as a name to watch during one of FloBaseball’s previous Atlantic League series preview pieces earlier this month, when York was squaring off against the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars.

But let’s face facts here; Washington’s June has simply been too good to ignore and must be acknowledged again.

Since June 1 alone, Washington (a former big-leaguer with the Baltimore Orioles) has hit an incredible 13 home runs with 33 RBIs, rocketing him to the top of the the ALPB leaderboard in both statistical categories (23 homers, 59 RBIs on the season) as he’s been the main driver behind York’s stunning past few weeks in which it has gone 11-1 in its past 12 upon the conclusion of Tuesday’s games.

And speaking of Tuesday in the Revolution’s series opener against the Ducks, Washington pushed an ongoing home-run streak to its third game in a row (and made it a total of six homers in his past six games, too) with a walk-off two-run blast in the 10th inning to sit down Long Island and give York an electric win.

No one in the ALPB has been as powerful at the plate as Washington has been this month, and as he continues to swing away for MVP candidacy, don’t be surprised if more long bombs are coming against the Ducks in their series this week.
