The 2024 MLB Draft is a few weeks away, but next year's just got a whole lot more interesting.

In 2025, there are three names already being penciled into the top of the 2025 MLB Draft. And one of them could have a new college team next season.

Texas A&M star outfielder Jace LaViolette, an All-American who hist .305 with 29 home runs and 78 RBI for the Aggies this season as a sophomore, entered the portal on June 26. LaViolette wasn't a one-year wonder either. He was one of the best freshmen in the country in 2023 with a .287 average, 21 home runs and 63 RBI.

The massive 6-foot-6, 230 pound right fielder by far became the best player to enter the portal a few days after he played in Game 3 of the College World Series Finals against Tennessee.

Whether LaViolette actually transfers or not is one thing, but the slugger is looking for a new home where he'll have some work to do to make his case as the No. 1 pick.

Who Are The Top Prospects In The MLB Draft 2025?

The No.1 player on most ranking is the younger brother of 2022 MLB No.1 pick Jackson Holliday, Ethan Holliday. Currently a shortstop at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds for Stillwater High School in Oklahoma, most scouts see him as a future outfielder along the lines of his dad, Matt Holliday.

As far as college prospects are concerned, there are two names: Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella and LaViolette.

There were rumors of Cannarella, who hit .388 with 16 doubles and 24 stole bases as a freshman for the Tigers in 2023 and .337 with 11 home runs and 16 more doubles in 2024, could enter the portal.

But he dispelled that rumor to Sports Illustrated earlier this month.

Where Will Jace LaViolette Transfer? LSU, Texas Baseball Could Be The Pick

LaViolette will be the most sought after player in the portal, especially after having helped lead the Aggies to the College World Series. His former coach Jim Schlossnagle is now at Texas, so it's difficult not to consider him going to the Longhorns.

But LaViolette also was committed to play at LSU before the Aggies hired former LSU assistant coach Nolan Cain in 2021. The Tigers are one of the best programs in the country and won the 2023 College World Series.

But Cain did leave with Schlossnagle for Texas.
