How To Watch NCAA DII Midwest Regional #1 - Hosted by Saginaw Valley State
Saginaw Valley welcomes Ashland and Northwood as host for NCAA Div. II Tournament regional competition.
Ashland, Northwood and host Saginaw Valley clash beginning on May 16 in postseason action. The GLIAC regular-season champion SVSU, and a pair of G-MAC teams in Ashland and Northwood all earned the right to continue their seasons with outstanding performances throughout 2024.

Saginaw Valley Baseball: What To Know
Record: 39-15
Head Coach: Adam Piotrowicz
Few teams in baseball hit more effectively than Saginaw Valley from the top of the order to the bottom. The Cardinals' .344 team batting average is fifth in the nation, with six players who have at least 100 at-bats delivering at clips north of .300.
Hayden Jatczak is having a season for the record books at .476 in 210 at-bats with 15 home runs, but the multitalented Jatczak isn't the only dangerous hitter in the SVSU lineup.

Players to Watch
Reed Raymond, Outfielder & Left-handed Pitcher: Reed Raymond opened the season on a 13-game hitting streak. Heading into the postseason, Saginaw Valley's hitter with the second-best average (.403) produced five multiple-hit games in nine of the Cardinals' final regular-season contests.
Raymond has driven in 62 runs, second only to Jatczak and has 19 doubles in his 79 total hits.
Hayden Jatczak, Right-handed Pitcher: In addition to his incredible presence at the plate, Hayden Jatczak has been one of Saginaw Valley's top pitchers. He's struck out 44 batters in 46 1/3 innings, good for 8.55 strikeouts every nine innings worked.
Jatczak also has an ERA of just 2.53 with two complete games.
Ashland Baseball: What To Know
Record: 40-13
Head Coach: Paul O'Neil
The Eagles reacehd 40 wins in the regular season, including a run of 11 wins in 12 games. Five Eagles with at least 134 at-bats have batting averages of .306 or better, but Ashland's dangerous for blanacing its effective hitting with outstanding pitching.
Four Eagles pitchers with 23 innings or more worked have ERAs of 3.89 or lower. The same quartet have combined for 233 strikeouts.
Players to Watch
Cam Scott, Right-handed Pitcher: With a 2.75 ERA in 13 starts, Cam Scott has been a rock-solid ace for Ashland. He's struck out 65 batters; that's two more than the total number of hits Scott has allowed on the season.
He heads into the NCAA Regional with a 7-0 record.
Cam Miller, Outfielder: Cam Miller is batting .378 and has an on-base percentage of .469; best among all Eagles with more than 10 at-bats. Miller has 196 at-bats and has 74 hits — of which a team-high 74 are team-highs — and sports a .515 slugging percentage.
Miller is also Ashlan'd top base-stealer with 18 swipes on 20 attempts.
Northwood Baseball: What To Know
Record: 32-21
Head Coach: Brad Baldwin
Northwood is in its seventh consecutive NCAA Div. II Tournament thanks to a strong finish to the regular season. The Timberwolves won nine of their last 11, catching fire at the plate over the final month starting with a 30-run showing against Grand Valley State.
Players to Watch
Matt Magno, Catcher & Infielder: Matt Magno brings power with 15 home runs — second only to Blake Salamon among all Northwood batters — and his 15 doubles lead the Timberwolves. All told, he has driven in a team-leading 64 runs.
In addition to pop, Magno is consistent with a team-high .386 batting average. He's also Northwood's pace-setter in slugging percentage at .701.
Kendall Anthes, Right-handed Pitcher: Northwood's starting pitching ace, Kendall Anthes built on an All-Great Midwest 2023 with an even more impressive 2024.
He heads into the postseason with a 7-0 record and 3.65 ERA, and has struck out at least five in nine of his starts.
