MLB Draft 2024 Prospect Week 3 Review: How High Can Braden Montgomery Climb
MLB Draft 2024 Prospect Week 3 Review: How High Can Braden Montgomery Climb
Texas A&M Baseball star Braden Montgomery makes his case for No. 1 at the Kubota College Baseball Series Weekend 3.
We’ll start with this: Braden Montgomery transferred to Texas A&M Baseball for weekends like the one he had at the Kubota College Baseball Series.
The No.10-ranked prospect made a strong case to move up in prospect rankings as he completely raked in the third weekend.
With the Major League Baseball season fastly approaching as the season begins in just two weeks, college baseball prospects move closer and closer to the 2024 MLB Draft.

So far, top prospect JJ Wetherholt’s hamstring injury has limited him to just four games, which doesn’t necessarily mean he’s falling off the top spot that he unanimously owned when the season started, but it means there is an opening for others to shine.
Like Travis Bazzana in Week 1, Hagen Smith in Week 2, and Braden Montgomery in Week 3.
Each week we’ll break down the performances from the top prospects in our composite rankings. Here are some of the takeaways from college baseball’s top prospects.
MLB Draft 2024 Prospect Of The Week: Braden Montgomery, Texas A&M Baseball
So, maybe No. 10 is not high enough for Montgomery? In 11 games, the outfielder is slashing .410/1.437/.897 and has five home runs, 16 hits, two doubles, and a triple. He’s driven in 21 runs.
A lot of that damage was done at the Kubota College Baseball Series. The 6-foot-2 junior from Madison, Miss. hit two home runs with five hits and drove in nine runs over three games against Arizona State, USC, and Arizona State again.
Oh, yeah. He hit a grand slam too.

Perhaps he was just very familiar with those teams after playing for Stanford the previous two seasons, but he had a .393 average entering the weekend and left it with a .410 average.
A two-way player at Stanford, he has only pitched once this season, a clean, 13-pitch inning with a strikeout on Feb. 27. But his future seems to be at the plate, even though he has touched upper 90s with his fastball.
Ridiculous Prospect Note Of The Week… Yeah, It’s Jac Caglianone of Florida Baseball, Again
Last week, Jac Caglianone hit 99 on the radar gone during an up-and-down start against Columbia.
This week? The superstar had one of his best games ever. He struckout 11 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings and went 3-for-5 with a home run on Sunday.
Jac Caglianone is a baaaad man.

It’ll be tough for teams to pass up that kind of talent in the first few picks if he keeps that type of pitching up this season. The question with Caglianone is whether or not a team will actually allow him to play two-ways at the next level.
