Travis Bazzana hit two home runs as the Oregon State Baseball team blitzed Oklahoma State on Feb. 25 at the Kubota College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. 

Bazzana showed why he is near the top of all 2024 MLB Draft prospects lists as he hammered Cowboy pitching going 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI, a double and a walk.

It was a strong bounce back weekend for not just Bazzana but for the Beavers after the top-10 team in the polls lost 5-4 on Friday to No. 2 Arkansas. 

Ranked between No.3 and No. 7 in various polls, the Beavers struckout 23 times on Friday, including three from Bazzana. But after tying the game late, Arkansas rallied to hang on to win. 

There were no close-calls after that game, though, in there College Baseball Showdown debut. The Beavers run-ruled a Michigan team that nearly beat Arkansas on Sunday and then scored eight unanswered runs against the Cowboys after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first. 

Bazzana and Tanner Smith homered and Eric Segura pitched five innings and struck out seven after allowing a run in the first. Oregon State relievers gave up just one hit in the final four innings.  

Oklahoma State Baseball Still Had Strong Weekend

Despite the loss on the final day, Oklahoma State leaves Arlington as one of the most impressive teams in the field of 14 teams. The Cowboys won a marathon 14-inning game against Arkansas and beat Michigan 9-3 this weekend. 

The College Baseball Showdown continues on March 1-3 at the Kubota College Baseball Series Weekend 3 with Texas A&M, TCU– both in the top 10 of the latest polls– playing Pac-12 programs Southern California and Arizona State.
