Kansas Baseball Continues Series Against UIC Baseball
Kansas baseball continues their series against the UIC Flames baseball team. The Jayhawks tripped up in the first game of a three-game series, losing 9-11.
Kansas baseball scored four runs in the eighth and ninth inning in the first game of a three-game series against UIC baseball, but it wasn't quite enough to put the Jayhawks over the Flames. The final score of 9-11 betrays Illinois-Chicago's consistency throughout the game, with the Flames scoring at least one run in five different innings.

However, KU's baseball team came on strong late in the game, nearly completing the come-back, and bodes well for the Jayhawks as they try to recover today, continuing their season-opening series against UIC.
KU baseball's first four games will be broadcast on FloBaseball this season, including the three-game outing against Illinois-Chicago in Corpus Christi, and a single game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Kodey Shojinaga was the standout for KU in the first game against UIC. Shojinaga, a sophomore second baseman, hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the ninth inning, and brought in five runs on four hits. The Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year last season, was named to the preseason All-Big 12 Team for 2024. He will look to lift the Jayhawks this season after the program has failed to win 30 games the last two seasons, going 25-32 last season.
