What Teams Are Playing In The Kubota College Baseball Series?
Weekend 2 (Feb. 23-25)
Weekend 3 (March 1-3)
Coming off its impressive showing en route to the 2023 College World Series, TCU has the opportunity to reestablish itself as one of the front-runners to make it to Omaha in 2024.
The Horned Frogs open the season at No. 6 in the Baseball America preseason poll, just a few spots ahead of fellow Kubota College Baseball Series Weekend 3 participant Texas A&M.
Texas A&M is projected to be among the top breakout teams of 2024 with a combination of top-notch additions and returners who steadily progressed throughout 2023. The Aggies open the season at No. 11 in the BA poll.
Joining the Lone Star State locals for the Kubota College Baseball Series are Pac-12 Conference representatives Arizona State and USC. Both finished last season well above .500 overall, and on the right side of .500 in a tough conference.
Players To Watch At College Baseball Showdown Weekend 3
Caden Aoki, RHP, USC
Notre Dame transfer Caden Aoki made an immediate impact for the USC pitching rotation in 2023. The right-hander put together a scoreless-inning streak that spanned almost two months en route to earning All-Pac-12 recognition.
Aoki boasted the conference's best ERA at 2.98 compiled over 63 1/3 innings, struck out 52 batters, and limited opposing hitters to a .249 average.
Ryan Campos, C, Arizona State
A Freshman All-American in 2022 with a .357 batting average, .430 on-base percentage and two home runs, Ryan Campos improved on those already impressive statistics as a sophomore in 2023.
He leads Arizona State into 2024 coming off a season in which he batted .388, slugged .594, got on base more than 50 percent of his at-bats (.503) and homered eight times.
Braden Montgomery, OF, Texas A&M
One of the top players in the nation heading into 2024, Braden Montgomery is a preseason first team All-American and the avatar for Texas A&M's Omaha aspirations.
Montgomery transferred to Texas A&M from Stanford, where last season he helped the Cardinal to the College World Series with a .336 batting average, 17 home runs and 61 RBI. Along with his power at the plate, Montgomery can take the mound in a pinch. He threw 14 innings a season ago, including against Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament.
Anthony Silva, SS, TCU
Coming off a Freshman All-American campaign in 2023, Anthony Silva is poised for a sensational sophomore campaign. PerfectGame.org tabbed Silva as a preseason first team All-American with Silva coming off a debut campaign with a .330 batting average, seven home runs, 50 RBI and a .471 slugging percentage.
Silva complements his presence at the plate with outstanding defense. He assisted in 172 outs and had 74 put-outs a season ago, while maintaining a .950 field percentage.
