Lenoir-Rhyne’s Tyler McPeak was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player of the Week, while Wingate’s Mitch Farris was named Varsity Gems Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during Week 7 of the 2023 season, the conference office announced Tuesday.

McPeak, a graduate student first baseman from Denver, North Carolina, collected multiple hits in four of five games last week, while batting .600 with three home runs, a double, a triple and five runs scored. 

He drove in 11 runs, with a slugging percentage of 1.400 and an on-base percentage of .632, while collecting 21 total bases on the week.

Farris, a junior left-hander from Palm Harbor, Florida, earned his third consecutive Varsity Gems Pitcher of the Week honor after allowing just one run on three hits in a complete-game victory over No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne. 

He went all nine innings, piling up 13 strikeouts with two walks.
